Description of My Kit

Death & Taxe$ is on the verge of releasing it's latest CD. Vince and I teamed up with several contributors in a tribute to Tom Shannon. Try these short samples of three of the cuts, let me know what you think.
Playing
History:
I've played in over 25 bands since 1967, recorded and
performed live, woodshedded and performed spontaneously, read note-for-note and
improvised. Click on the links above, or go to pages "FGO Live" and "Rapids" at the left to hear some samples
of my playing.
I grew up playing jazz, mostly contemporary big band but a lot
of trio and quartet as well. In the early years I also played rock 'n'
roll for money. That changed when I realized the best music was not
mainstream, and I spent most of my time playing originals with an occasional
detour to something commercial. I've played practically every type of
music -- jazz, funk, heavy metal, latin, pop, disco (yes, I admit it). I
have classical training waaaaay back and at one time was versatile on concert
percussion instruments, excelling in tympani. I also have music theory
training, can read and write music.
My Kit:
10-piece Tama plus roto-toms. Standard snare plus
piccolo snare. The main bass drum is on the left and tuned
tight, uses Axis double-kick pedals. The
right bass is tuned loose, uses DW double pedal (left
pedal used), used for mood and funk accents. Mix of cymbals, mostly
Zildjian, some Paiste, others I'm not sure of but they sound
good. Left foot accesses hi-hat and left pedal for left bass drum. Right
foot accesses pedal for either bass drum. Toms are 10", 12", 13,
14", floors are 16", 18". Gibraltar rack system.
